Abstract

Microfinance is one of the means to change the financial condition of the poor, helpless and destitute people living in the society. As a financing institution, microfinance is very popular in developing and underdeveloped countries today. It is playing a very significant role in socio-economic development of many countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. Now a days, the success of microfinance in eradicating poverty has caused a stir in the world. Its effects have spread everywhere in the society. As a result, poor and destitute people are sending their children to schools, changing their food habits, improving residential infrastructures, and availing medical treatment. Islamic microfinance is playing the most dominating role in this regard due to the its interest and gharar (uncertainty) free nature. The standard of living is   being improved by utilizing the skills of the helpless and poor in the sphere of production and marketing. The activities of micro finance are especially noticeable in Bangladesh. In addition to conventional microfinance, Islamic microfinance activities have been expanding in Bangladesh for the last three decades. Quantities method has been followed in this research work. This research has shed light on the introduction of Islamic microfinance, its worldwide development, scope, expansion, modus operandi and impact in the society. This paper has also provided recommendations for the expansion of Islamic microfinance activities.

সারসংক্ষেপ : সমাজে বসবাসরত দরিদ্র, অসহায়, নিঃস্ব-সম্বলহীন মানুষের আর্থিক অবস্থা পরিবর্তনের অন্যতম মাধ্যম মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্স। অর্থসংস্থানকারী প্রতিষ্ঠান হিসেবে মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্স আজ উন্নয়নশীল ও অনুন্নত দেশে বেশ জনপ্রিয়। এশিয়া, আফ্রিকা ও ল্যাটিন আমেরিকার অনেক দেশেই আর্থ-সামাজিক উন্নয়নে এটি বিশেষ ভূমিকা পালন করছে। দারিদ্র্য নির্মূলে মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্সের সাফল্য বিশে^ আলোড়ন সৃষ্টি করেছে। এর প্রভাব সমাজের সর্বত্র ছড়িয়ে পড়েছে। ফলে দরিদ্র ও নি¤œবিত্ত মানুষেরা তাদের সন্তানকে স্কুলে পাঠাচ্ছে, খাদ্যাভ্যাস পরিবর্তন করছে, বসবাসের অবকাঠামো উন্নত করছে, চিকিৎসাসেবা নিচ্ছে। ইসলামী মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্স এক্ষেত্রে সবচেয়ে বেশি ভূমিকা রাখছে। কারণ সেখানে সুদ ও ঘারার মুক্ত মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্স কার্যক্রম পরিচালিত হচ্ছে। উৎপাদন, বিপণনসহ সকল ক্ষেত্রে অসহায়-দরিদ্রদের দক্ষতাকে কাজে লাগিয়ে জীবন যাত্রার মান উন্নয়ন নিশ্চিত করা হচ্ছে। বাংলাদেশেও মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্সের কার্যক্রম লক্ষণীয়। বিগত তিন দশক ধরে বাংলাদেশে সাধারণ মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্সের পাশাপাশি ইসলামী মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্স কার্যক্রমও ব্যাপকভাবে  প্রসারিত হচ্ছে। এ গবেষণা কর্মে ছঁধহঃরঃরবং গবঃযড়ফ অনুসরণ করা হয়েছে। এর মাধ্যমে ইসলামী মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্স পরিচিতি, কার্যক্রম, বিশ^ব্যাপী বিকাশ, সমাজে ইসলামী মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্সের পরিধি ও প্রসার এবং প্রভাব বিষয়ে জানা যাবে। এছাড়াও ইসলামী মাইক্রো ফাইন্যান্স কার্যক্রম আরো বিকশিত করার ব্যাপারে নির্দেশনা পাওয়া যাবে।
