Abstract

The Battle of Badr, the first armed conflict in Islamic history, stands as a remarkable example of the Prophet Muhammad’s (Sm.) ethical leadership in warfare. Despite triumph, he treated prisoners with compassion, justice, and respect—ensuring equal food, shelter and opportunities for freedom through education. This study, based on a qualitative analytical and historical approach, aims to analyze the historical context and examples of the Prophet’s humane treatment of captives, identify the ethical principles derived from the Qur’an, Hadith, and Sirah, highlight Islam’s universal message of mercy and justice. Findings indicate that the Prophet’s conduct at Badr established a timeless model of wartime ethics rooted in compassion and human dignity—centuries ahead of contemporary humanitarian law—affirming Islam’s enduring commitment to justice and mercy even in times of conflict.

বদর যুদ্ধ ইসলামের ইতিহাসে প্রথম সশস্ত্র মোকাবেলা হিসেবে আল্লাহর রাসূল সা. এর যুদ্ধনীতিতে নৈতিক নেতৃত্বের এক অনন্য উদাহরণ হয়ে আছে। বিজয়ের পরও তিনি বন্দীদের প্রতি করুণা, মানবিকতা, ন্যায়বিচার ও সম্মান করেছেন — তাদের জন্য সমান খাদ্য, আশ্রয় এবং শিক্ষা প্রদানের মাধ্যমে মুক্তির সুযোগ করেছেন। গুণগত বিশ্লেষণমূলক ও ঐতিহাসিক পদ্ধতির ভিত্তিতে এই গবেষণায় বদরের বন্দীদের প্রতি রাসূলুল্লাহ সা. এর মানবিক আচরণের প্রেক্ষাপট, কুরআন-হাদীস ও সীরাতভিত্তিক নৈতিক নীতিমালা এবং ইসলামের সর্বজনীন দয়া ও ন্যায়বিচারের বার্তা বিশ্লেষণ করা হয়েছে। গবেষণার ফলাফল প্রমাণ করে যে, বদর বন্দীদের প্রতি রাসূলুল্লাহ সা. এর আচরণ করুণা ও মানবিক মর্যাদাভিত্তিক যুদ্ধনীতির এক চিরন্তন মডেল যা আধুনিক মানবিক আইন প্রণয়নের বহু শতাব্দী আগে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছে এবং যুদ্ধকালেও ইসলামের ন্যায় ও মানবিকতার চিরস্থায়ী প্রতিশ্রুতিকে সুস্পষ্টভাবে তুলে ধরেছে।
